The Resurrected Jesus: Alive and Teaching

August 6,2025

Acts 1:1-8 - Jesus' post-resurrection appearances and teachings
Acts 1:6-8 - Jesus' response about restoring the kingdom to Israel

There is a part of the scriptures that we want to look at today. Acts 1:1, 3 says, "The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began to do and to teach...presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen forty days by His apostles and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God."

The resurrection of Jesus Christ might seem like a joke to some, but let's consider what Luke, the writer, said: Jesus was seen for 40 days, speaking about the kingdom of God. That's over a month of showing Himself alive after resurrection, holding what could be likened to seminars, conferences, and summits with His disciples. A dead man can't do that! A ghost can not be seen by many people at the same time, teaching and holding seminars! He showed Himself alive!

Seminars with the Disciples
If it were today, Peter might be taking notes, and James might ask, "Tell me what He said now. I wrote the part about 'we should tarry in Jerusalem'... what's next?" Peter might respond, "Until we are endued with the Holy Spirit." That Acts 1:8 was one of the messages from Jesus' summit and seminar after His resurrection.

Questions and Answers
The disciples asked, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" Jesus answered, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power..." (Acts 1:6-8). They were fond of the resurrected Jesus, believing He was appearing to them to become king over Israel physically.

Looking Ahead
Tomorrow, we will be looking at scriptures and occurrences that prove Jesus is alive today. Stay tuned!
