Many people assume that going to a psychic as a client is harmless, as if they’re not doing anything wrong. After all, the clients aren’t the ones who are reading tarot cards or channeling spirits.
But God’s Word says otherwise:
Deuteronomy 18:10–12 doesn’t just condemn the practitioners of divination, witchcraft, and mediumship. It says, “Whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
God’s condemnation isn’t limited to people who conduct these practices professionally. This passage also condemns the clients who seek them out.
Leviticus 19:31 makes it even clearer:
“Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them.”
This isn’t just in the Old Testament - we see this in the New Testament too such as Acts 16.
This isn’t “legalism,” since we’re not saved by our works. This is being obedient to God because we love and trust Him. It’s also being wise about your spiritual safety. 
When you consult a psychic, even once, you’re not just dabbling; you’re defiling yourself spiritually. You’re seeking spiritual knowledge, healing, or peace not from the Lord, but from Satan’s counterfeits. It’s not curiosity, it’s rebellion.
Even King Saul fell under God’s judgment for this. When he was desperate, he turned to a medium at Endor (1 Samuel 28). That decision cost him his life.
When I was a psychic before God saved me, I really thought that I was a Christian who was pleasing God because my clients were comforted by my readings. I would argue that I was born this way, so God must want me to be a psychic. So beware if you hear arguments like that from psychics who are deceived. Please share the Gospel with her, and pray for her salvation.
If you’ve gone to a psychic or practiced New Age methods, you can be forgiven and set free through Jesus Christ.
Jesus’ work on the cross cleanses even the most defiling sins, if you turn away from them in repentance and come to Him in faith.
