Oral Roberts determined that he should preach or minister only when under God’s anointing. To keep him humble, Oral’s mother would often remind him, “No one wants to hear Oral Roberts; they want to hear God through Oral Roberts!”
Oral developed a special quiet time when he could wait on the Lord for His presence. At three o’clock each afternoon before an evening service, Oral would spend time resting and praying in preparation for the night’s meeting. No one was to disturb him during this time alone with God.
As Oral waited upon the Lord, God’s presence would come into his right hand and activate his faith to believe for the needs of the people. Oral made a vow to the Lord that he would not attempt to minister without sensing God’s anointing power. He knew that without the Holy Spirit’s presence at each meeting, he could accomplish nothing.
