Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

We bought this house twenty years ago. Knocked it down to the studs and redid everything. From wiring, to plumbing to walls and windows. It was quite the sight with all the plaster and lath on the floor during demolition. I scared my mom when she came out to see the place…she chose to not take pictures haha.

Over the course of time, we have had to replace the roof twice and a couple of doors, but nothing else from the original work. Yesterday, my husband began investigating why the kitchen sink was backing up … guess what … somewhere in one of the ‘under the house drainpipes … 20 years of yuck decided to stick around and build a barricade. It was gross. Very gross.

With the help of a couple of friends, we were able to remove the yucky pipe and put in a new one…all it cost us was some good old fashion sarcastic banter and time.

I was thinking this morning, how this applies to us … on our walk with Him. Even after we commit to following Him, over time we build barricades of gross yuck. Sometimes we think it is too bad to hand over. That God would not want to muddy his hands with those areas of my life. Sometimes we think we can just move around them if we are careful. Sometimes we think they will just break loose and go away. The fact is … until we deal with it, it is only going to get worse.

There are a huge number of examples I could use to illustrate this idea, on a personal level, however, today I want you to just think about what yucky stuff is clogging your relationship with God. I believe that the most used one is bitterness. I know that I had a clog of that yesterday when I went to work.

Today I want to encourage you to sit with Him and ask him to reveal your clogged areas. Do not take offense to them in the sense of trying to justify them but take offense in that you know you need to give those areas to Him and clear them out of your path. He and I had a nice long talk yesterday. Not sure I was truly listening in the beginning, but by the end I was at peace. I prefer the peaceful me. The peaceful me was not upset that we were up til after 9 fixing a clocked pipe. The peaceful me made jokes and then killed a wasp’s nest.

Go to Him and earnestly seek the areas you are trying to avoid, bypass, and hide. Then once revealed, pray on how to overcome them. Give them to God and walk away. It is hard, but once I started crying about it and listened, I did what He suggested and the situation for yesterday was resolved. It works.

Be blessed today my friends.

***May my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word. – Psalm 119:169
