IT’S TIME FOR SANITY TO PREVAIL
The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground - Hebrews 11:38
The Church has to prepare for a time when all nations will hate us because of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This will spark the greatest persecution of Christians in recorded history. This will take place during the Great Tribulation. Matthew 24:21 says, ‘For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.’ This is going to be the most trying period in the history of the world. As it was in Egypt, so it shall be in those days. Just as God was judging Egypt, God will be judging the world. Just as Pharaoh was oppressing the Israelites, the Antichrist will be persecuting Christians. Just as God’s judgments only affected the Egyptians and the Israelites were safe in Goshen, God’s judgments will affect the people of the world but Christians will be miraculously spared. Just as the whiplashes of Pharaoh and the hard labour tormented the Israelites, the Antichrist’s persecution will weigh heavily on Christians.
It’s going to be a trying time. But just as Moses’ mother made plans to save her son from Pharaoh’s edict of murder, Christians will have to be wise and make plans to survive what’s coming. Inasmuch as we can look forward to God raining down manna when there’ll be no food, or for water to come out of a rock when we’re thirsty, we should also heed God’s call to prepare for what’s coming. Inasmuch as God can send ravens to feed us, God also expects us to make the necessary arrangements for what is coming. Just as He gave Pharaoh through Joseph the wisdom to store grain during the good years to make up for the shortfall of the evil years that were to follow, God also gives strategies today for His people to be taken care of during bad seasons.
The Lord has already told us that we would have to run to the mountains. The ancients wandered about in deserts, and mountains. They lived in caves and holes in the ground. Their advantage was that they belonged to a combination of hunter-gatherer, and subsistence farming and herder communities. They were robust men and women who were very close to nature. They could track, hunt, slaughter, and prepare game meat. They could make fires outside, sleep under the stars, ride horses and donkeys, and they knew which plants were good for food, medicinal, or poisonous. We therefore can’t compare ourselves to them. We have to learn those skills. If we have to run to the mountains and live there for three and a half years, which is the duration of the reign of the Antichrist, how will we survive? If we’re cut off from buying and selling, how will we live? Are we ready to live without running water, electricity, refrigeration, heaters, stoves, blenders, microwave ovens, and the like? If the 2019 vir*s is anything to go by, God’s people are not ready for what’s about to happen next. Last night we had a church service, and I spent about an hour saying the same thing over and over again by the Spirit - IT’S TIME TO PREPARE.
PRAYER
Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray that I may wake up and be sober-minded. I pray that I may have a sense of urgency and start to prepare for what’s coming. Amen.
