Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Did you know that the older you get, the more the little things can hurt you? I am almost certain that maybe this only pertains to me. I was laying on the floor to get the toys from underneath the bed and somehow pulled a muscle in my lower back. It’s a gift … I am telling you … it is pure talent to hurt yourself while trying to genuinely be careful.

That happened in the morning hours. The interesting thing is that if I kept moving, it did not bother me, if I sat in a chair it did not bother me, however, if I went to get up from a chair or seated position and ‘start’ to move…oh my lands….did that hurt. Just as if I stood up and someone hit me with a ball bat in the lower back. It would take a good 5 minutes for my back to loosen up and feel kind of normal.

That was lesson one yesterday…I am talented and old enough to get hurt being careful.

Because my back was being contrary, I did what I never do … I took one of my husband’s muscle relaxers. Now I have been prescribed this muscle relaxer in the past (long time ago because I don’t like doctors- haha) so I knew my body would be okay with it. What I did not take into consideration was the ‘mg’ of the tablet that he takes and what I would have been prescribed. That was pretty dumb of me. Mind you, it did the job. It loosened my back right up and I slept like a baby, but to be honest, I could go back to bed and sleep another 2 or 3 hours. I am going to need a lot of coffee to get over this. I told him this morning what I did, and he laughed at me. I knew there was a solid reason that I had never done that before.

Lesson two … don’t touch what is not yours. Haha.

So the overall lessons for yesterday are as follows: 1-the enemy will do anything to slow you or stop you. Where he did not necessarily cause my back to spasm like it did yesterday, I am sure that he was pleased that it happened and then ultimately aided in the attempts to keep me down. 2- I do believe that the enemy planted the seed to take my husband’s medicine … knowing that it was way more potent than what I really needed and hoping that I would not recover to go to work today. To be honest, the first alarm I felt like I had been drinking all night … second alarm I felt better but still drowsy. Good thing I like coffee.

My take aways from yesterday, no matter how careful I am to being respectful of my age, my body has a mind of its own and will do as it pleases. Conversely, where the ‘devil made me do it’ thought is an overused excuse, I got a valid reminder of discernment on keeping my hands to myself. I made choices yesterday which resulted in consequences. No one’s fault but mine.

Today is a postal training day for a job I have been doing for about five years now. I really wanted to send the person who will be replacing me but was told it was for titled positions only. I am hoping that there is something new that I can take back to help her. My notebook and pen are at the ready.

I encourage you today to find the humor in your life. As I have done with yesterday’s injury and choices to make it go away. Look for the sunshine in the middle of the rain shower. It is amazing how good it will make you feel.

Be blessed today my friends.
