This was from my morning Bible reading scriptures from Proverbs Matthew, And 2 Thessalonians. And comments by me.
Proverbs 12:27 (KJV) The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Proverbs 21:25 (KJV) The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
Matthew 25:26-30 (KJV) His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
As you can see here we are not to be lazy, we are supposed to work with our hand to provide for ourselves and our families if we want to eat. We should get up and work daily except on the Sabbath. But we should still do our daily chores. People in the 1700's - 1800's men were up at dawn, and did not quit until it was to it was time to quit, (some people back then did not observe the Sabbath but even if they went on Sunday they still had a day of rest) and back then they worked from sunrise to sundown, they worked in the fields and at harvest time it was the same. And the wives of those times were usually up before the men preparing breakfast because if neither husband or wife did not do their part then neither person ate and if they had children then they helped out when they were old enough they did chores before school( if they could afford to go to school) and after school they would help out in the fields at planting or at harvest. So see there was no time to be lazy if the family wanted to have food to eat or money to buy more seed and other supplies for the family.
