Matthew 5:1-16 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain; and when he was set, his disciples came unto him;

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Ye are the light of the world. a city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Galatians 2:1-10 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Je-ru'-sa-lem with Bar'-na-bas, and took Ti'-tus with me also.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gen'-tiles, but privately to them which were of reputation,

lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

But neither Ti'-tus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

And because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Je'-sus, that they might bring us into bondage;

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that they truth of the gospel might continue with you.

But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsover they were, it maketh no matter to me; God accepteth no man's person;) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me;

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Pe'-ter;

(For he that wrought effectually in Pe'-ter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gen'-tiles:)

And when James, Ce'-phas, and John, who seemed to be pillars perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Bar'-na--bas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
