"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." — Hebrews 12:1–2 (NKJV)

Thought Of The Day...
The Christian life is not a sprint—it’s a long-distance race that requires endurance, focus, and discipline. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we’re not running alone; we’re surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses,” men and women of faith who have gone before us and testify through their lives that God is faithful.
To run effectively, we must lay aside every weight—those distractions, habits, or burdens that slow our spiritual progress. Sin, in particular, is like an entangling vine around our feet, preventing us from moving forward freely.
Our endurance comes from fixing our eyes on Jesus. He’s not only our ultimate example but also the author and finisher of our faith. He began the work in us, and He will see it through to completion. Jesus endured the cross because of the joy that awaited Him—the joy of redeeming us and bringing us into eternal fellowship with God.
When life feels heavy, when trials tempt us to quit, we look to Jesus. He ran His race perfectly and now sits at the right hand of God, assuring us that we, too, can finish strong in His strength.

Prayer...
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with humble hearts, grateful for the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us. Their lives remind us that faith is worth the fight and that Your promises never fail. Lord, teach us to run our race with courage and endurance. Remove from us every weight that slows us down—whether fear, doubt, bitterness, or distraction. Cleanse us from every sin that tries to entangle our steps and keep us from moving forward in Your will.
Lord Jesus, our eyes are fixed on You. You are the author and the finisher of our faith. You started this work in our hearts, and You will bring it to completion. When we are weary, be our strength. When the road is long, be our guide. When shame or guilt tries to overwhelm us, remind us that You bore it all on the cross.
Holy Spirit, fill us with fresh endurance for this day. Keep our hearts steadfast, our steps steady, and our faith unshaken. Help us to run not for applause, but for the glory of the One who sits at the right hand of the Father. May our lives be a testimony that points others to You, until the day we cross the finish line and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
