Romans 5:1-5 RSV 1952 Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God.

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.

Christ in you, the hope of glory

Colossians 1:24-29 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now made manifest to his saints.

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we might present every man mature in Christ.

For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me.

God chose you from the beginning

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved in the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
