Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

It is a high-octane race weekend for the boys and a high-octane cousins convention for the gals. By the end of the weekend, I am pretty sure that we all will need a nap. However, the bonding, the fellowship, and the love that will abound will be far beyond what any human can measure. This is truly going to be a magnificent weekend for everyone.

I was blessed with a new story idea last night. So much so that I actually wrote down the overall concept so that I would not forget. As I was writing it down, so many sub-thoughts came to mind. It is going to be a good story. I kind of wish I could start writing it now. I am so absent-minded, I would forget which story I was working on and mix up my two others into this new one, so it is going to have to wait until I get these other two completely completed.

Today, this morning, I am going to work on the editing (again) of my latest story while the little ones play. This afternoon, I'll go get the cousins after school and probably something to eat.

How is your day and weekend looking? Are you looking at it as “oh my it is going to busy and exhausting” or “adventurous and exhilarating”? Is your glass half empty or half full?

Do you know what this weekend is truly about … at least in this house … Making memories.

I would like to encourage you to take a moment and look at what is on your schedule. After the first glance, I want you to look at it from the perspective of seeing the Son involved.

You say you are working in the critical care unit this weekend and going to miss a family event, so you are not very happy about it. Understand. You know that there is a person in that section not doing well and it is going to be a rough shift. Understand. The prognosis is that they won’t make the weekend. Understand. The patient is a Jane Doe and has no family. Understand. You will probably be assigned the patient, and you are not in the mood. Understand. Let’s fast forward. You were correct. You did get that assignment. The ward is slow. Only a few patients and plenty of staff … that never happens. You are assigned the Jane Doe. You put on your professional face. You are checking her vitals and paperwork. You reach down to check her pulse, her hand moves and she grabs your hand. Quietly she says thank you. Then is called to heaven. You were her family. That is a Son moment for a soul. You were chosen. Chosen for that moment.

So, where you missed a family event with your family and those are hard, you provided a family moment for someone without a known name. The patient knew you, for they felt you each time you were their caregiver. They waited for you so they could give proper thanks. Your glass was half-full. Now it is overflowing.

With that in mind, look at your weekend again. Is it a Son day? I think so.

Be blessed today my friends.
