Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

The Lord has seen that it has been too hot; He has blessed us with some storms and cooler temperatures. He has seen that we were tired and required the soothing rumbles of this summer rain. Let me tell you, it is working. It is nearly 7 am and only one other person is up in my house. Even the dog is quiet.

Yesterday we went to a new park in town. It is a pretty good size. There are a multitude of climbing and swinging toys. There is a water tilt thing like you are mining. There are walking trails and other experiences in the trees. There is plenty to do. I always make the joke that I am jealous of the parks they have today; we did not have playgrounds like this when we were little. But we (our generation) are the ones building them BECAUSE we did not have them. And … we are making them strong enough to hold us as well so we can play too. Haha.

I was shown something yesterday in my character that I need to address. My German granddaughter asked her mother when the other kids were going home. Curiosity. My American granddaughter asked what she said and I, being me, interrupted to ‘translate’ and politely told I was incorrect. To be honest, I did not hear everything and assumed that I knew the question based on what I thought the question would be. Because they are kids. Because kids like to do kid things. I am pretty sure that I thought that the question had something to do with playing. Nope. Not even in the ballpark.

After that, my mind began to filter through the many times that I had ‘thought’ I knew the conversation and answer, only to be shown how incorrect I was. This is actually a pretty big flaw in my character. Regardless of the language, I do this all the time. It is almost like … like I want to be in the ‘know’ … even though I don’t have the facts. I interpret the facts based on only what ( I ) believe them to be.

How many times have we pre-interpreted someone’s status based on how they were dressed? I purposefully dress like someone without much so much won’t be expected of me when I go to the store. Such as, I have went to the store in my pj’s on purpose with my hair all over the place so that I can receive the stares but have no contact.

Our eyes tend to determine what is going on in a person’s life. Where they can give some information, they rarely see the whole picture. There is almost always an underlying reason.

I want to encourage you today to take time and really listen to situations around you. Do not let your eyes tell you everything. Do not let your ideas overcloud the truth. When you do not know, there is no shame in asking.

Many times God will put us in a place to learn this lesson right here. Scripture tells us to quick to listen and slow to speak. I know that I have a really difficult time with this. For some reason, I think that I have to be in the middle of everything, God is showing me that I have no business in the middle of everything. I need only be in those places that He puts me.

Today as you spend time with Him, ask him to reveal those areas that you are struggling with and to show you the path in which you need to take. Are you one that predetermines by your eyes? Are you one that finishes someone else’s sentences? Are you one that only sees with your heart? What area of your character do you need for Him to lead you through? I may be with him for a while on this one … ha ha.

Be blessed today my friends.
