*Trusting God When It Gets Harder Before It Gets Better*
*Scripture*
> “And they said to them, ‘Let the Lord look on you and judge, because you have made us abhorrent in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.’”
— Exodus 5:21 (NKJV)
*When Obedience Feels Like Failure*
After Moses and Aaron obeyed God and spoke to Pharaoh, instead of relief, things got worse for Israel. Pharaoh increased their burdens, and the people felt betrayed and abandoned. In their anger, they blamed Moses and Aaron.
This is often how life works when God begins a work of deliverance:
Things may seem to get worse before they get better.
Opposition rises because the enemy does not let go easily.
God’s plan is still unfolding, even if it looks like failure at first.
The people forgot God’s promise and focused on their pain. But God had not forgotten them. Their suffering was not the end—it was the beginning of their salvation story.
*Reflection Questions*
1. Have I ever felt like things got worse right after I obeyed God?
2. Do I trust God’s promises even when my circumstances seem to contradict them?
3. How can I encourage others to keep faith when deliverance feels delayed?
*Prayer*
Lord God, I confess that sometimes I get discouraged when things don’t improve right away. Help me to remember that Your timing is perfect, and that what looks like a setback may be the start of something greater. Strengthen my faith to trust You through the hard seasons. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
