1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 Exploring NLT
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 Always be joyful,
Never stop praying.
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Do not stifle the Holy Spirit,
Do not scoft at prophecies,
but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.
Stay away from every kind of evil.
2 Corinthians 6:4-10 In every thing we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
We have been beaten, been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.
We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy spirit within us, and by our sincere love.
We faithfully preach the truth. God's power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand of attach and the left hand for defense.
We serve God whether people honor us of despise us, weather they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.
We are ignored, even though we are well known. We live close to death, but we are still alive. We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.
Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.
Ephesians 6:17-18 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Live to please God
1 Thessalonians 4:1-5 Finally, brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.
For you remember what we taught you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
God's will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.
Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor--
1 Peter 2:15-17 It is God's will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you.
For you are free, yet you are God's slaves, so don't use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.
Discerning False Prophets
1 John 4:1-3 Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For their are many false prophets in the world.
This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God; If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the spirit of God.
But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person is the spirit of the AntiChrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
Philippians 4:8-9 And know, brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me--everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
