1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 Exploring RSV

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 Rejoice always,

pray constantly,

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Do not quench the Spirit,

do not despise prophesying,

but test everything; hold fast what is good,

abstain from every form of evil.

2 Corinthians 6:3-10 We put no obstacle in any one's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,

but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way; through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,

beatings, imprisonments, tumults, labors, watching, hunger;

by purity, knowledge, forbearance, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love,

truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

in honor and dishonor, in ill repute and good repute. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true;

as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as punished, and yet not killed;

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

Ephesians 6:17-18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

1 Thessalonians 4:1-5 Finally, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more.

For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you abstain from immorality;

that each one of you know how to take a wife for himself in holiness and honor,

not in the passion of lust like heathen who do not know God;

1 Peter 2:15-17 For it is God's will that by doing right you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

Live as free men, yet without using your freedom as a pretext for evil; but live as servants of God.

Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

By this you know the Spirit of God; every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.
