1 John 4:1-3 Exploring RSV

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

By this you know the Spirit of God; every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.

1 Corinthians 14:26-33 What then, brethren? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn; and let one interpret.

But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.

Let two or three prophets speak let the others weigh what is said.

if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first be silent.

For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged;

and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

1 Corinthians 12:1-3 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be uninformed.

You know that when you were heathen, you were led astray to dumb idols, however you may have been moved.

Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus be cursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit.
