Christ’s Once-for-All Sacrifice Must Not Be Distorted
Many forget the warning in the story of Moses and the rock. In Exodus 17, God told him to strike the rock, picturing Christ’s death on the cross. In Numbers 20, God told him to speak to the rock, picturing prayer and access through Christ’s finished work. But Moses struck it again, and by doing so he ruined the picture.
Hebrews 9:28 says Christ was “once offered.” His sacrifice never needs to be repeated or added to. Any system that says salvation is Christ plus works, rituals, or law-keeping is striking the rock again. That is not the gospel.
Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice is enough. To tamper with it is to distort the very heart of salvation.
