“One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, ‘Praise God!’ He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, ‘Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?’ And Jesus said to the man, ‘Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.’” (Luke 17:15–19 NLT)
Thought Of The Day...
In this passage, ten lepers cried out to Jesus for mercy, and all ten were healed. But only one returned to give thanks, and he happened to be the least expected—a Samaritan. Jesus took notice of his gratitude and declared that his faith had made him whole.
The other nine received healing for their bodies, but the one who returned received something greater: spiritual wholeness. Gratitude has a way of deepening our relationship with God. When we pause to thank Him, we acknowledge that every blessing flows from His hand.
How often do we rush off with our answered prayers, enjoying the blessing but forgetting the Giver? Gratitude turns our healing into wholeness, our provision into worship, and our breakthroughs into testimonies. It shifts our eyes from what we’ve received to the One who gives.
Prayer...
Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart full of thanks. Like the one leper who returned, I want to pause and acknowledge that every good thing in my life comes from You. Thank You for healing me when I was broken, for lifting me when I was down, for forgiving me when I was guilty, and for saving me when I was lost. Thank You for the breath in my lungs, the strength in my body, and the peace in my mind.
Lord, forgive me for the times I have been like the nine—quick to receive but slow to return thanks. Teach me to live in daily gratitude, not just when blessings are obvious, but even in the small, unseen mercies You provide each day. Remind me that gratitude is not just words but a lifestyle that glorifies You.
Help me, Lord, to cultivate a thankful spirit in every circumstance, whether in abundance or in lack, in joy or in trial, because Your Word says, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Let my gratitude draw me closer to You, deepen my faith, and be a testimony to others of Your goodness.
I surrender my heart to You today, Lord. May my words, actions, and thoughts reflect a spirit of thanksgiving. Thank You, Jesus, for making me whole—not just in body, but in spirit and soul. I give You all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
