THE THINGS WHICH REALLY MATTER

We often get so caught up,
With the events which we think great,
That we put the things which really matter,
On a back shelf, and make them wait.

The things which really matter,
Are those precious with which we're graced,
And if we ever lose them,
They can never be replaced.

The family which truly loves us,
Don't treat their love with scorn.
For they were placed in us, and us in them,
From the day that we were born.

God sent His one and only Son,
To redeem us from our sins,
And He has fashioned us and planned for us,
From the moment life begins.

He has given us so many blessings,
To fill our days on earth.
Can we ever put a price tag on them,
Or a value on their worth?

Service and commitment matter,
To our Lord and fellow man.
Should we not devote our best time,
To follow Love's sweet plan?

To protect that which is precious,
From that which would do it harm?
And to hearken to duty's klaxon,
When it sounds its first alarm?

There are things which really matter,
Versus, things which are not great.
Let us choose what really matters,
And let all the rest just wait.
