"Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest."- Joshua 1:7

Thought Of The Day...
When Joshua stepped into leadership, he faced an enormous challenge. He was not only replacing Moses, the greatest prophet Israel had ever known, but also tasked with leading a restless, often disobedient people into enemy territory. On every side, the challenges seemed overwhelming—new enemies to fight, land to conquer, tribes to unify, and faith to maintain. Yet in the midst of all this, God’s instruction was clear: “Be strong and very courageous.”
What’s striking is that God didn’t tell Joshua to focus on military strategies, alliances, or sheer willpower. Instead, strength and courage were directly tied to obedience to God’s Word. Joshua’s success did not depend on his ability, wisdom, or the size of his army. It depended on his faithfulness to God’s instructions. The Lord said, “Observe to do according to all the law… turn not from it to the right hand or to the left.” The path of blessing was found in steadfast devotion and unshakable trust in God’s promises.
This lesson speaks powerfully to us today. We also face battles—though they may not be physical wars, they are battles of faith, integrity, temptation, and perseverance. The enemy whispers fear, doubt, and compromise, hoping to distract us “to the right hand or to the left.” The culture around us often pushes us to bend or water down God’s truth. But just as God assured Joshua, He assures us: strength and courage come not from ourselves, but from His presence and His Word.
When we meditate on God’s Word daily and walk in obedience, we are equipped to face challenges with confidence. The courage to endure trials, resist temptation, and stand boldly in faith is birthed from knowing God is with us. Like Joshua, we are reminded that prosperity and success are not measured by worldly standards, but by living in alignment with God’s will.
As you face the uncertainties of life, remember that the same God who promised Joshua victory is with you today. He has not changed. His Word is still alive, His promises still stand, and His Spirit still empowers us to move forward with faith. You don’t need to fight in your own strength—the Lord goes before you, and in Him, you will prosper wherever you go.

Reflection Questions:
• What challenges in my life right now require me to be strong and courageous?
• Am I rooted in God’s Word enough to keep me from drifting “to the right hand or to the left”?
• How can I practice daily obedience so that my courage is anchored in God, not in myself?

Prayer...
Heavenly Father,
I come before You with a grateful heart, thanking You for the reminder in Joshua 1:7 that true strength and courage do not come from my own abilities but from Your Word and Your presence. Lord, just as You spoke to Joshua on the edge of the Promised Land, speak to me in the midst of my own challenges. Help me to be strong and very courageous—not because of who I am, but because of who You are.
Father, I confess that too often I rely on my own strength, wisdom, and understanding, and in doing so, I stumble. Forgive me for the times I have turned to the right or to the left, chasing my own way instead of trusting Yours. Today I choose to stand firm on Your Word. Anchor me in truth, that I may walk faithfully in obedience to all You have commanded. Let my heart not be swayed by fear, doubt, or the distractions of this world.
Lord, remind me daily of Your promises. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may face every battle with boldness. When fear rises, let faith be stronger. When weakness sets in, let Your strength carry me. When the enemy tries to discourage me, let Your voice of truth drown out every lie.
I pray for courage to lead in my family, to stand for righteousness in my community, and to remain faithful in my walk with You. Just as You prospered Joshua when he followed Your commands, I ask that You guide me into success—not as the world defines it, but as You define it. May my life reflect obedience, integrity, and steadfast faith.
Thank You, Lord, for going before me. Thank You for promising never to leave nor forsake me. I place my trust in You today and every day, believing that You will prosper me wherever I go as I walk in Your will. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
