THE ADVENT TRUTH
September 2nd
Satan’s last and most dangerous deception will be his attempt to impersonate the second coming of Christ. He knows the world is longing for peace, for answers, for hope in the chaos, and he plans to step into that longing by appearing as a glorious being of dazzling brightness, performing miracles, speaking smooth words, and even quoting Scripture. Many will believe it is Jesus. But make no mistake—it will not be the same as how the Bible says Jesus will really return. This is why it is absolutely essential to know exactly what God’s Word says about the second coming, so we are not swept away by the counterfeit.
The true return of Christ will not be a secret event or a quiet appearance on earth. Jesus Himself warned, “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27). His coming will light up the entire sky. Revelation 1:7 says, “Every eye shall see Him.” No one will need to be told, “He’s over here, He’s in this city, or out in the desert”—because all will witness it with their own eyes.
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 describes the real event: “For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” Notice carefully—when Jesus comes, the dead are resurrected, the living saved are caught up, and together they meet Him in the air. Nowhere does Scripture say Jesus touches the earth again before the millennium.
That’s why Satan’s counterfeit will be so deceptive—because it will be dazzling, it will feel real, but it will contradict the plain testimony of Scripture. Only those who are rooted in the Word of God will recognize the difference. Isaiah 8:20 warns us, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
