Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

What does it take to become a Christian?

I started yesterday with a similar question, ‘what does it mean to be a Christian’, so today I am going to tell you my take on how to (become) a Christian.

The first steps are simple. You simply have a conversation with God that you want to now follow Him. You want to turn away from your worldly style of living and live as he did/does. Once you have this conversation with Him, a true and sincere conversation with Him, and honestly and earnestly give your heart to Him, technically you are a Christian.

However … there is a bit more to it … it is not difficult, it is not out of your reach …

Some will say if you say the Sinners Prayer, that is all you need. Some say if you are baptized, that is all you need. Some say if you just do good all the time, that is all you need. I say, and it is my opinion, if the prayer is not from the heart for absolute repentance and desire to live for Him, you are just reciting a prayer. If a baptism is just to be part of the gang of kids you like, without true repentance and desire to live for Him, you are just getting wet. If doing good in your eyes, who is not redeemed by His blood, are good deeds but they are not measured by Him and your works are just nice deeds. Perhaps even just for show.

Now I may ruffle a few feathers with this post and I will answer on the judgement day for my words. Whenever you submit yourself as a leader or guide, you become double accountable for your choices. I accept my choices. I pass no judgement. I speak only truth.

To become a Christian, we must submit to the authority of Jesus Christ. WE must go to him and accept him into our hearts. We must be true to motive when we do this. He knows if we are doing for show.

Now before you get all upset, the best part is to come. ONCE, you make this truthful and earnest step of faith, asking for the forgiveness of your sins, and place Him in front of you always … the path to walk becomes so much clearer and easier to see. It truly does.

You knew before that the gossip circle was wrong, but you figured if (they) were doing it and no one was getting hurt … it was okay…however now you have the strength to walk away.

You knew before that your neighbor was in a situation where help was needed, or at least you thought maybe, now the blinders are off, and you can see what they really need.

Total confusion happens in the middle of a storm, and all of sudden you feel this peace come over you. It is unexplainable.

I could go on. Once you (become) a Christian, the rest is easy. It only really gets difficult when we try to take over our lives. And we all do.

To become a Christian, you must only truly surrender your heart to Jesus. Then you will want to be baptized as an outward submission to Him. After that, you walk one day at a time, one minute at a time with him as your line leader. The difference between walking with the world and with Him … spectacular.

Be blessed today my friends.

***When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19

As Jesus went from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. – Matthew 9:9
