MIRACLE (2) – By B.B. John

Let's move on to the parable of a lamp on a lampstand.

Christ came into the world with a clear purpose: to shine in a world overshadowed by darkness. His mission was never to remain hidden but to radiate like a lamp set on its stand, or a city established on a hilltop—visible to all.

“Also, He said to them, ‘Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?’” (Mark 4:21, NKJV)

In the same way, as believers redeemed by the blood of Christ, we are called to be rightly positioned to fulfill our God-given purpose: to light up this dark world. We carry the presence of Jesus, and that presence must not be concealed—whether by fear, compromise, or complacency. Instead, it should be revealed, influencing lives positively wherever we go.

When we live as lamps set upon their stands, our light naturally shines. As God’s lamps, our visibility is made possible through a lifestyle that reflects Christ—our words, our actions, and our character.

It is through good works and a godly lifestyle that we shine brightly, displaying Christ’s influence and leading others to see Him in us, so that they may glorify the Father.

A lamp is never meant to be covered. Do not be a silent believer. Do not live contrary to the faith of Christ. Do not dim your light with sin, fear, doubt, or compromise. Instead, be a lamp on the candlestick—shining and giving light to all.

Text: Mark 4:21–25

Memory Verse:
“Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?” (Mark 4:21)
