Rise Above the Resistance
(Luke 19:1–9)
Zacchaeus’ encounter with Jesus teaches us that destiny is unlocked when determination meets meekness.
1. He Had a Goal
Zacchaeus only wanted “to see who Jesus was.” It seemed like a short-term goal, but in reality it was a destiny-shaping pursuit. Sometimes, what looks like a simple hunger in your heart is the seed of a lifetime transformation. Never ignore those little stirrings to know God more—they may be the key to your purpose.
2. He Had Disadvantages, But Refused Excuses
He was short in stature, and the crowd was against him. Life will always give you reasons to give up—limitations, resistance, ridicule. But Zacchaeus did not allow his disadvantage to define his destiny. What is stopping you today? Height? Background? Finances? People’s opinions? If Zacchaeus could rise above, so can you.
3. He Did the Extraordinary
A wealthy man running through the street? That breaks dignity.
A chief tax collector climbing a tree? That breaks social protocol.
When passion for God consumes you, you stop caring about mockery. Extraordinary breakthroughs only come through extraordinary steps. Sometimes you must embarrass your pride to encounter His presence.
4. Jesus Responded to His Hunger
Jesus stopped, looked up, and called Zacchaeus by name. The crowd was large, but hunger singled him out. Jesus even suspended His journey and made Zacchaeus’ house His destination. When you seek Him earnestly, He will make your house His dwelling place.
5. Meekness in Action
Zacchaeus instantly humbled himself before the Lord:
“I give half of my goods to the poor.”
“If I have cheated anyone, I will repay fourfold.”
This is meekness—an attitude that surrenders possessions, pride, and position at the feet of Christ. That day, salvation entered his house.
Brethren!
1. Don’t despise small desires—they can be the door to destiny.
2. Refuse to let disadvantages or resistance stop your pursuit of God.
3. Be willing to look foolish to man if it means getting God’s attention.
4. Hunger for Christ will always attract His presence.
5. True encounter produces meekness, generosity, and transformation.
A Call For Motivation:
Like Zacchaeus, run past the crowd of excuses. Climb the tree of determination. Break free from materialism. Let meekness open the door of your heart. Jesus will not pass you by—He will stop, call your name, and make your life His dwelling.
