“Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” – John 11:39 KJV

Thought Of The Day...
In this passage, Jesus is about to perform one of His greatest miracles—raising Lazarus from the dead. Yet, before the miracle takes place, there is an instruction: “Take ye away the stone.”
Martha responds with human reasoning: Lazarus has been dead for four days, the decay has already begun, and the situation seems hopeless. Her words reveal doubt, fear, and natural limitations. But where Martha saw finality, Jesus saw opportunity for God’s glory.
So often in our lives, there are “stones” that block the miracles God wants to perform. Stones of unbelief, fear, bitterness, guilt, or even resignation. We may think, “It’s been too long,” “I’ve made too many mistakes,” or “It’s beyond repair.” But Jesus still speaks: “Take away the stone.” He is calling us to remove the barriers that keep His resurrection power from reaching the dead places in our lives.
Notice, too, that Jesus asked others to roll away the stone. Sometimes, God calls us to help one another remove barriers—through prayer, encouragement, accountability, and love—so that life can flow where death once reigned.
No matter how long your situation has been “dead,” it is not beyond the reach of Christ. He specializes in what seems impossible. The grave was not too strong for Lazarus, and neither is your circumstance too far gone for Him.

Questions To Think About:
• What “stone” is blocking God’s power in my life?
• Am I willing to obey Jesus’ command even when it doesn’t make sense?
• How can I help others “roll away stones” in their lives?

Prayer...
Heavenly Father, I thank You for being the God of resurrection and life. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear and doubt to place stones in the way of Your miracles. Lord, help me to trust Your word over my circumstances, and to obey even when I do not understand. Remove the stones of unbelief, despair, and fear from my heart, and let Your resurrection power bring new life to the dead areas of my life. Use me also to encourage and strengthen others, that together we may witness Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
