Daniel’s Answer.

By Mikhail Sevastyanov September 7

“Then he said to me, ‘Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.’”

Daniel 10:12–14

Back in the day, I witnessed something I didn’t expect. First, my mother and then my father were baptized into the church. Next, my brother was also baptized. But in five or six years, first my mom, and then my dad left the church. My brother stopped attending several times, and then came back. He also tried to quit smoking a number of times, but slipped back, again and again. At the moment, he has come to the church for the third time, and I am very surprised.

For a long time, I believed God didn’t hear my prayers; but at some point, I clearly saw that this wasn’t true. My family was always the subject of my prayers, but I just didn’t pay attention. I didn’t consider the fact that everything was going the way it should. But now I clearly see that God heard me. Yes, He couldn’t force my relatives to believe with all their hearts, but He attracted them to the church, and now I can’t say, “Lord, why don’t You hear me?” because He did!

The prophet Daniel received a vision from God and he really wanted an explanation for it. I’m sure he prayed about it. All his thoughts were focused on praying for his people during their Babylonian captivity. His heart wasn’t calm because he was worried. For three weeks he didn’t eat any food, except for stale bread.

Finally, an angel appeared to Daniel and said that, from the first day, he wanted to come to him, but was opposed by the Prince of Persia. That enemy, as you know, was the devil, but nevertheless, the angel still flew to Daniel and no opponent could stop him. The prophet just needed to wait three weeks.

Daniel felt this confrontation without knowing anything about it. He prayed and waited, and the answer came to him in the most wonderful way. An angel appeared to him and responded to his prayer. Furthermore, the angel said something really important. He told him why his prayer was heard, saying, “For from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard.” I admire the speed of the angel, although he had to stand up against someone who wanted to detain him.

It seems like Satan constantly argues with God about the people we pray for, and want to be saved. And sometimes, when we don’t receive an answer to our prayers immediately, we can lose faith overnight and sort of stop caring about them. But the Bible says that we should humble ourselves and set our hearts on their salvation. And even if Satan opposes it, God will still send you a message. He will give you an answer. Just don’t lose heart, and don’t lose faith!
