Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

One of the things that I think about, seemingly more and more these days, is what was life like back ‘then’? Now, the ‘then’ depends on my mood at the time. Driving through a small, almost gone town, what was it like when this town was (booming)? Coming home from work and seeing the remnants of a piece of highway no longer in use, what was it like back then when that was the thoroughfare? Sitting at my desk at work, what was it like before the internet, zoom meetings, and the mail was the most important thing? I do a lot of ‘What was it like?”.

Do you ever wonder? Do you ever wonder what it was like in the 1700s when things were not simple like they are now, but were oh so much simpler in so many other ways? What about in Jesus’ time? If you had a time machine, and could pick a time to visit, what time would you visit?

Personally, I float from time period to time period in which one I would like to see the most. To sit in the presence of the 5000 while He preached the sermon on the mount…would have been extraordinary. To watch the town that I live in actually thrive with jobs and people walking down the sidewalks to all the shops. I think that it would have been exciting to see. I used to think that I was born in the wrong era, because I have such an old soul. But …

There is a song by Jeremy Camp that has lyrics in it that state that we were made at this time, for this time period, for these days. We are who God designed to thwart off the evil that is happening in this timeline. He chose us specifically to walk a specific path, to address and interact with specific people, to speak specific words, to be here in this time to spread His specific light. Not sure about you, but it seems to me that we hold a pretty high position to Him in his church to do a pretty important job.

Now, I agree that I am not always ‘feeling’ the chosen for seed planting part or the watering part and sometimes it feels like a punishment. But that is because my sinful nature wants me to turn away from Him and do what I want … many times that is not what He wants from me. However, when I take a moment and think about the situation and why I was involved in the situation, I can start to see the plan He has. But in order to see His plan, I have to be open to receiving his plan and accepting it, not trying to change it to fit my ideas or plans. That is the hard part.

Today, I encourage you to seek the surroundings around you and the path that you are walking, but instead of seeing the stupid in it, see the plan that God has for you in it. Open your mind, your eyes, your heart, and your willingness to serve Him, and embrace the challenge that He has given you. You were chosen for this time, this place … God does not make mistakes.

Be blessed today my friends.
