Step Two- A closer look into RSV
1 Peter 4:7-11 The end of all things is at hand;therefore keep sane and sober for your prayers.
Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.
Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another.
As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace;
whoever speaks, as one who utters the oracles of God; whoever renders service, as one who renders it by the strength that God supplies; in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Matthew 5:1-16 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him.
And he opened mouth and taught them, saying;
"Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when the revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.
"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.
"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid.
Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Galatians 2:1-10 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Bar'-na-bas, taking Titus along with me.
I went up by revelation; and I laid before them (but privately before those who were of rebute) the gospel which I preached among the Gentiles, lest somehow I should be running or had run in vain.
But even Titus, who was with me, was not compelled to be circumcised, though he was a Greek.
But because of false brethren secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy out our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage--
to them we did not yield submission even for a moment, that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. and from those who were reputed to be something (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)--those, I say, who were of rebute added nothing to me;
but on the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with he gospel to the circumcised
(for he who worked through Peter for the mission to the circumcised worked through me also for the Gentiles),
and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James, and Ce'phas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Bar'-na-bas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised;
only they would have us remember the poor, which very thing I was eager to do.
