Step Seven- A Closer Look Into RSV
1 John 1:5-10 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth;
but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 3:4-12 Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
You know that he appeared to take away sin, and in him there is no sin.
No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him.
Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous.
He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.
by this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil; whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother.
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.
