Step Twelve- A Closer Look Into RSV
Galatians 6:1-5 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you to be tempted.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.
For each man will have to bear his own load.
Romans 12:1-3 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God which is your spiritual worship.
Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
For by the grace given to me I bid every one among you not to think of himself more highly then he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith which God has asssigned him.
1 Corinthians 11:27-34 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.
Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.
That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.
But if we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged.
But when we are judged by the Lord, we are chastened so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another--
if any one is hungry, let him eat at home--lest you come together to br condemned. About the other things I will give directions when I come.
Romans 2:1-11 Therefore you have no excuse, O man, whoever you are, when you judge another for in passing judgment upon him you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.
We know that the judgement of God rightly falls upon those who do such things.
Do you suppose, O man, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourselves, you will escape the judgement of God?
Or do you presume upon the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience? Do you not know that God's kindness in meant to lead you to repentance?
But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourselves on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
For he will render to every man according to his works;
to those who by patience in well-doing seek the glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life;
but for those who are factious and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.
There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek,
but glory and honor and peace for every one who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.
For God shows no partiality.
Ephesians 4:22-32 Put off your old nature which belongs to your former matter of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts,
and be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbor,
Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
and give no opportunity to the devil.
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his hands so that he may be able to give to those in need.
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, with all malice,
and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
