Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
I am so thankful that I have a Father in heaven who protects my mind as I sleep. Ensuring that my rest is indeed restful. For when I wake up and start my morning routine, notifications of issues that I must face today, then turn on the news to see other issues that, in a way, I have to face today … I could not do that without Him.
First, I want to thank you all for your prayers for my father-in-law. The end is very near, so continued prayer for peace and comfort in his transition to eternity is greatly appreciated.
Second, please pray for the boys. They have been diligent in tending to their ailing father and it has not been easy. Please pray for their strength and fortitude to stay the course and that they will be able to set the example of what family is.
I write many times on choices. I raised my kids to understand that everyone has a choice in all circumstances. You can go up or down, left or right, forward or reverse. You can say yes or no, stop or start, defend or look away. Yes, these are vague examples; however, the point is … we all have a choice. I have choices. You have choices. The choices that I make may not align with the choices that you make.
The Supreme Court made the ruling that burning the American flag is an act of Freedom of Speech (though recently I did find there was an article stating that it was prohibited … just saying). If I see someone burning the flag, I have a choice to make. Let them exercise their First Amendment right or stop them by upholding the oath I took when I joined the Army. I can assure you; I will defend the oath I took. That is my choice to make and suffer any consequences that it may bring. Just as someone burning the flag made a choice and suffered the consequences of their choice.
Choices have rewards and consequences. Fact.
Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, Charlie Kirk. Top three that come to mind. They all had a calling. They all made choices. They all have less than beautiful moments. They all stepped into to ‘leader’ or ‘teacher’ role. The bible states that when you assume that role, you are held doubly accountable and if you lead someone astray, it would be better to have a millstone around your neck. (paraphrased) Whether I agree with their lifestyle, their teachings, or their role in society is my issue between me and God. Their (misobedience) is between them and God. What is important here is how WE react to this situation. Is our reaction godly? And even more importantly, are we going to allow the flaws of man to interfere with our path to Him?
So, what I am about to say … some will not agree with. That’s ok.
There are headhunters out there seeking out those who celebrated his death and now are celebrating their termination from their jobs. If a company sees that there is an employee that does not align with its image, absolutely they have the right to terminate. What I do not agree with is the eagerness of those to seek out these video clips, eagerly report them, and then celebrate when they are terminated. Again, they made the choice and are suffering the consequence, however, if the employer were that concerned, they would have sought out that information on their own … my opinion.
The other section of this issue is those who see the fallacy of man in the Word and seek to use them as a choice to not follow the Truth. That bothers me far more than headhunters.
King Saul was appointed by God … lost his way, tried to kill his successor over jealousy. Yet David refused to lay a hand on him.
Saul (Paul) murdered believers in the name of God, joyfully. Yet God made him one of the greatest leaders of the faith.
Matthew, a jew who accepted a role with the Romans to collect taxes and inflict penalties on his on people for failure to pay, was chosen by God. When Jesus called him to follow, the disciples were in shock. Yet He call, he followed, he led.
Evil ran in all three of these men. Yet, God used them all. Charlie Kirk was not perfect. He had a demeanor that not all approved of or sanctioned. Where you may have disagreed with him on one or all his ideas, there is proof that he led people out of darkness. That people picked up their bibles for the first time because of his speech. Yes, he made comments that were inappropriate or incorrect. There is also evidence that he openly apologized for at least some of them. Did I agree with everything he did, no. But I don’t agree with a lot of people or the way they do things. It is part of being human.
Whether you agree with him or not, he was on a mission to save souls. That was his mission. How he did that mission is between him and God. You are on a mission to build the kingdom, one soul at a time, can we start with yours?
Be blessed today my friends.
