THE FINGER OF GOD IN DIVINE INTERVENTION “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and He shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.” – Deuteronomy 33:27 The finger of God does not only create, deliver, or judge; it also intervenes in the daily affairs of men. Many times in Scripture, we see the mysterious intervention of God at work when His people faced impossible situations. His intervention often came suddenly, decisively, and unmistakably. The finger of God is a picture of His direct involvement in human history and in personal lives. When God stretches forth His finger, the natural gives way to the supernatural, and what seemed impossible becomes possible. 1. The Finger of God Interrupts Human Limitations In Egypt, the magicians reached their limit and confessed: “This is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19). Likewise, in your life, when you reach the point where human effort fails, the finger of God steps in. God’s intervention is often seen when: • Doors no man can open suddenly open. • Enemies stronger than you are suddenly silenced. • Battles too fierce for you are suddenly won. The finger of God intervenes where man’s wisdom ends. 2. The Finger of God in National Affairs Throughout history, God has intervened in the destinies of nations. He raised up kings and dethroned others (Daniel 2:21). The handwriting on the wall in Babylon was not just about a king, but about the shifting of empires. Today, we must recognize that the finger of God still writes in the affairs of nations — exposing corruption, judging rebellion, and protecting His people. 3. The Finger of God in Personal Battles The psalmist testified in Psalm 18:16: “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.” This is what the finger of God does: it reaches down into the storms of life and lifts us out. When sickness, poverty, oppression, or confusion threaten to drown you, the finger of God intervenes to bring you into safety. 4. The Mystery of Divine Timing One of the mysteries of the finger of God in intervention is its timing. God often waits until man’s strength has failed so that His glory will be undeniable. Just as Israel stood trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, the finger of God parted the waters at the right moment (Exodus 14:21). God’s intervention is never late — it always comes at the exact moment that brings Him the most glory and you the greatest deliverance. Reflection • Do I trust God enough to wait for His divine intervention in my battles? • Can I recognize the finger of God working behind the scenes in my life? • Am I willing to surrender my struggles so that His supernatural touch can manifest?
