ONE THING IS NEEDFUL. Luke 10:38-42: "Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving and came to him and said, 'Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me.' And Jesus answered and said unto her, 'Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.' ... Martha received Jesus into her home to be a blessing to him. Matt 10:41 says, 'He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward.' Martha, therefore, was fulfilling the scripture: doing well to receive and serve Jesus. Martha had a sister called Mary, who sat at Jesus' feet to receive his word. Martha was busy serving to please the Lord. She did not care about the word. In verses 41 and 42, 'And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.' Jesus called Martha twice in verse 41, begging for her attention and imploring her to see the importance of what he had to say concerning her request. Jesus said to her, 'ONE THING IS NEEDFUL.' This one thing is the basis of everything. This one thing is the foundation of everything in God's kingdom. The continual detailed attention to and meditation on God's word is not only the basis for profitable service but for a fulfilled life. One thing is truly needful. You can choose that now. Embrace wisdom; it's the principal thing. Prov. 4:7-9, 20-22. Josh 1:8 and Matt 5:6. ... END.
