Pope Does What Only God Can Do
-
Tens of thousands of people packed into St. Peter’s Square for Pope Leo XIV to canonize Carlo Acutis who died at the age of 15. So Catholics believe they have one more ‘holy-person’ to intercede on their behalf. Catholics believe the pope can declare someone a saint but are they saints?
-
The Catholic teaching of “saints” does not line up with God's Word. In Catholic theology, the saints are in heaven.
In the Bible, the saints are on earth. In Catholic teaching, a person does not become a saint unless he/she is canonized” by the Pope. In the Bible, everyone who has been born again by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone is a saint. In Catholic practice, the saints are venerated (worshipped).
In the Bible, saints are called to worship, and pray to God alone. In Catholic theology two miracles must be attributed to the candidate for sainthood. In the Bible, the miracle of the new spiritual birth by a sovereign act of God makes the person a saint.
I pray Catholics will come to a knowledge of the truth of God's Word so they will not be deceived by false teachers (Acts 17:11).
