Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Have you ever been so consumed with a situation that you could not objectively see all the points of the paper? That your vision of the printing right before your eyes was blurred by innuendo and past practices. Has your ability, in this scenario, to see anything other than the obvious that is in front of you been shrouded and tucked away in a box somewhere, buried in a closet, so that all you see is the obvious? If the answer is yes, then I have a question for you.

What if Jesus only looked at the obvious in us?

(I took a minute for that to sink in on my own vision.)

Fact of the matter is this, I have done this. I have only seen the blatantly obvious in front of me and would not … that is right ‘would not’ allow myself to see anything else. That does not mean that what I saw was not factual or true … because it was. However, by me living in this scenario each and every day, by me refusing to see anything other than the errors and blatant dismissal of common sense, my soul darkened, my heart hardened, and my peace was non-existent. I would like to proclaim that I only did this once or twice … but I cannot. It has happened on several occasions and probably will in the future. If I am being honest. I can say this, with a certain amount of certainty that from the first occurrence that I can remember to the last, the time I spend in that darkened hole is less and less.

When we fail to look outside the obvious of a situation and fail to see the potential of a lesson or growth opportunity, we are falling into an entitlement/what’s the point mindset. That my friends is all the enemy. The entitlement of I deserve better than this and they will never change, so what is the point? This particular arena is where most are at these days.

Entitlement: I work my butt off and do the work of others, yet they get the glory and recognition and the same pay or even more. How fair is that?
What's the point: It does not matter what I say or do; it does not seem to matter to them, so why should I waste any more energy on them?

Ever had those thoughts?

I have.

When I act in these ways, I am embarrassed to call myself a crusader of His Love. One thing that I have going for me, is that He does not look the obvious in me … when I act this way. He looks at my potential and promise. He looks at who He knows I can be … if I will make the choice to walk down that road. He looks past my past errors, arrogance, and disobedience and sees the good that I will do for Him. He does not stay in my arena; he directs me to His.

The enemy likes to point out the obvious. He likes to tell you there is no hope for change, because if there were going to be change, then why isn’t there any evidence of it already? The enemy likes to build the fire of frustration and exhaust our ability to look past the obvious. If we are not careful, that fire of frustration will burn out every lick of peace and joy that we have. And it will happen in a flash.

I encourage you today to take a few moments and sit in His presence. Have a conversation with Him. Ask Him to help you in these battlefields of frustration and lack of hope. Lean into his grace and give thanks that He does not look at only our obvious.

Be blessed today my friends.
