False Prophets

Matthew 7:15–16 – “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

We live in a time when spiritual deception is rampant. Just as there are true servants of God who speak His Word faithfully, there are also fake prophets who distort the truth for personal gain. Jesus Christ Himself warned us to be vigilant.

The devil is not against religion; he uses religion to deceive, corrupt, and lead many astray. This message is a wake-up call for believers to open their eyes and test every spirit.

Who are False Prophets?

They are men and women who claim to speak in the name of the Lord but are not sent by Him.

Jeremiah 23:21 – “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.”

They pretend to carry God’s authority, but their words do not align with Scripture.

The Sign :

They seek personal gain rather than God’s glory (Micah 3:11).

They manipulate people’s fears and desires.

They perform lying wonders to deceive (Matthew 24:24).

The Fruit of False Prophets

Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them” (Matthew 7:16).

Their fruits are not holiness, humility, or truth, but:

Greed: Selling prophecies and blessings for money (2 Peter 2:3).

Immorality: Leading people into sin (Jude 1:4).

Pride: Exalting themselves instead of Christ.

How to Identify Fake Prophets

Check their doctrine: Does it align with Scripture? (Galatians 1:8).

Examine their lifestyle: Is there evidence of holiness? (1 Timothy 6:3-5).

Test the spirit: Pray and discern whether they are truly from God (1 John 4:1).

The Believer’s Should Be Careful

Be Watchful: Do not accept every “prophecy” you hear.

Study the Word: Only the truth of Scripture can guard against deception (Acts 17:11).

Follow the Holy Spirit: He leads us into all truth (John 16:13).

Hold on to Christ: The true Prophet, Priest, and King who never fails (Hebrews 1:1-2).

Conclusion

False prophets are not a new problem; they existed in Bible times and continue today. But God has given us His Word and Spirit to discern truth from lies. Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” The safest place is to remain close to the Shepherd.
