An Offering of Thanksgiving

Scripture

Leviticus 2:2 (NKJV)
He shall bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests, one of whom shall take from it his handful of fine flour and oil with all the frankincense. And the priest shall burn it as a memorial on the altar, an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.

A Heart of Gratitude

The grain offering was different from the burnt offering. It was not given for sin but as an expression of thanksgiving and dedication to God. Made from fine flour, oil, and frankincense, it symbolized the fruit of daily labor offered back to the Lord. It was a way for God’s people to say, All I have comes from You, and I give it back in gratitude.

For believers today, this offering teaches us that worship is not only about sacrifice but also about thanksgiving. God desires that we acknowledge Him as the source of every blessing and dedicate our daily work to Him. Our gratitude, expressed through giving and serving, rises like a sweet aroma before the Lord.

This verse reminds us that thanksgiving is not occasional but continual. A grateful heart turns ordinary labor into worship.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I regularly acknowledge God as the source of all I have?

2. How can I turn my daily work and efforts into an offering of gratitude to Him?

3. In what ways can I practice thanksgiving more intentionally each day?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for being the giver of every good and perfect gift. Teach me to live with a heart of gratitude and to dedicate my work and blessings to You. May my thanksgiving rise before You as a sweet aroma of praise. In Jesus name, Amen.
