ONE DAY AT A TIME
Life can feel overwhelming when we try to carry the weight of yesterday’s regrets and tomorrow’s worries all at once. Many times, we are so caught up in what has happened or anxious about what is yet to come that we miss the grace God has given for today. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 6:34, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Taking life one day at a time doesn’t mean we stop planning or lose sight of the future. Instead, it means we choose to live in God’s strength for today, trusting Him for what tomorrow holds. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is not guaranteed, but today is a gift—that is why it’s called the present.
When you wake up each morning, God has already given you enough grace, wisdom, and strength to face that day’s challenges. He doesn’t give you tomorrow’s strength today; He gives you today’s portion. Just like the manna in the wilderness that the Israelites gathered daily (Exodus 16), God provides for you daily.
So, instead of allowing life’s pressures to choke your joy, pause and breathe. Focus on what you can do today. Celebrate small victories. Be grateful for the simple blessings. Trust God step by step.
The truth is, when we choose to live one day at a time, we live lighter, freer, and with more peace. Because we realize we don’t have to figure out everything at once—God is already in tomorrow, waiting for us.
Reflection
What worries about tomorrow are you carrying that you can surrender to God today?
How can you intentionally slow down and enjoy the blessings of today?
Prayer
Lord, help me to trust You one day at a time. Teach me to rest in Your grace for today, and not to be consumed with the past or fearful of the future. I receive the strength You’ve given me for this day, and I place tomorrow in Your hands. Amen.
