God Provides Forgiveness

Scripture

Leviticus 4:20 (NKJV)
And he shall do with the bull as he did with the bull as a sin offering; thus he shall do with it. So the priest shall make atonement for them, and it shall be forgiven them.

The Gift of Atonement

The sin offering was given when someone sinned unintentionally. It was a reminder that sin separates us from God and that forgiveness requires atonement. Through the sacrifice and the work of the priest, the person’s sins were covered, and they were restored to fellowship with God.

This verse shows the heart of God. He does not leave His people in guilt but provides a way for forgiveness. For believers today, this offering points directly to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. His sacrifice on the cross was once and for all, making eternal atonement for us.

Because of Jesus, we no longer bring bulls or goats to the altar. We come to God through Christ, who is both our sacrifice and our High Priest, and through Him, forgiveness is complete.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I live in the freedom of Christ’s forgiveness, or do I still carry guilt for sins already forgiven?

2. How does God’s provision of forgiveness stir my gratitude and devotion to Him?

3. Am I extending the same grace of forgiveness to others that I have received from God?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for providing forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Teach me to rest in the freedom of His atonement and to walk in the joy of restored fellowship with You. Help me also to forgive others as You have forgiven me. In Jesus name, Amen.
