Josiah Alipate :
I was seduced by attention and selfish ambition in 2005 and it was killing me (literally and spiritually)
In 2005 on my 21st birthday, I started working in the nightclub industry in Las Vegas as a bouncer. The allure of the lights, the music, the money, the women and the power was everything I thought I needed.
I would go to work and a switch would turn on. I thought I was invincible. I was the man. No one could touch me. I was working in one of the wildest environments 5 nights out of the week and every night was a new adventure. This industry introduced me to sex, drugs, alcohol, fights, hustling and more money than I knew what to do with.
I learned quickly, that if I wanted to get more money, more respect, more women and reputation, I had to be a totally different person and it got me into some pretty wilds scenarios. I would fight nightly because I always thought I needed to prove myself to be accepted. I had to get the most numbers and room keys from women because I thought that it made me a man. I hustled people for thousands of dollars nightly and I really thought I was doing something with my life.
The applause from others was loud…but it was killing me silently and I didn’t even realize it. It was destryoing my life and everything that seemed successful was falling apart in my life. Money didnt satisfy so I had to gamble just for the excitment. Drugs and alcohol didnt suffice so I turned to sex and everything that I possibly could to get pleasure.
But I still felt empty. It wasn’t until I gave my life to Jesus that I understood that people pleasing and ego made me into a monster and covered up the true man God made me to be. As I look back on those days, I was so wicked, so enslaved and I was an enemy of the Lord.
BUT GOD…
He pulled me out of that pit of reckless living and I no longer chase the things of this world. All I want and I ever need is Jesus. His grace is sufficient and His love covers me.
Thank you Jesus for your unfailing love!
