Romans 3:1-3 NIV Exploring

God's Faithfulness

Romans 3:1-3 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?

Much in ever way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.

What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God's faithfulness?

1 Peter 2:13-17 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human authority; whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,

or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves.

Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.

Paying the Imperial Tax to Caesar

Matthew 22:15-22 Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.

They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are.

Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?"

But Jesus. knowing their evil intent, said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me?

Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius,

and he asked them, "Whose image is this? And whose inscription?"

"Caesar's," they replied. Then he said to them, "So give back to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.

Saved in Order to Do Good

Titus 3:1-2 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,

to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
