“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” — 1 John 3:16 (NIV)

Thought Of The Day..
Love is one of the most used words in our world today, but few truly understand its depth. The Apostle John does not leave us guessing. He points to the cross of Christ as the ultimate demonstration of love. Jesus didn’t merely say He loved us—He proved it by laying down His life.
This verse teaches us two powerful truths:
• Love Defined by Jesus – Real love is sacrificial. It costs something. It’s not just emotion or words; it’s action. Jesus gave His very life to redeem us. Every time we look at the cross, we see the definition of love written in blood.
• Love Practiced by Us – John doesn’t let us stop at admiration. He calls us to imitate Jesus. “We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” This doesn’t always mean physical death—it may mean dying to selfishness, comfort, pride, or convenience so that others might be blessed.
True love asks: Am I willing to put others ahead of myself?
Some ways to Apply It to My Life...
• At home: Show sacrificial love by listening, serving, and forgiving those closest to you.
• At work or school: Choose kindness over competition, integrity over shortcuts, and encouragement over criticism.
• In the church and community: Look for ways to meet needs—even when it stretches you.
Every act of selfless love reflects the love of Christ to a watching world.

Prayer...
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing me the depth of true love through Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for me. Forgive me for the times I have spoken of love but failed to show it in action. Teach me to lay down my pride, my comfort, and my selfish desires so that I may love others the way Christ loves me.
Fill me with Your Spirit so that patience, kindness, and humility flow from my heart. Help me to love my family, friends, church, and even strangers with compassion and grace. Remove anything in me that hinders love, and let my actions point people back to Jesus.
Thank You that Your love never fails and never gives up on me. May my life be a reflection of Your sacrifice and a testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
