1 Thessalonians 3:1-6 NKJV
1 Thessalonians 3:1-6 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone,
and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,
that no one should be skaken by these afflictions for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.
For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened and you know.
For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain.
But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you--
Romans 16:17-27 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.
And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, Amen.
Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sostpater, my countrymen, greet you.
I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, greet you in the Lord.
Gaius, my host and the host of the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the treasure of the city, greets you and Quartus, a brother.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began
but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith--
In God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
Acts 20:17-31 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church.
And when they had come to him, he said to them; "you know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,
"serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;
"how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,
"testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
"And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the the things that will happen to me there,
"except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.
"But none of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
"And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will se my face no more.
"Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
"For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
"therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with His own blood.
'For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparring the flock.
"Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
"Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
