Isaiah 5:13-17 NKJV
Isaiah 5:13-17 Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself And opened beyond measure; Their glory and their multitude and their pomp, And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it.
People shall be brought down, Each man shall be humbled, And the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.
But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, And God who is holy shall be hallowed in righteousness.
Then the lambs shall feed in their pasture, and in the waste places of the fat one strangers shall eat.
2 Kings 24:13-20 And he carried out from there all the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house, and he cut in pieces all the articles of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
Also he carried into captivity all Jerusalem; all the captains and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousands captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths. None remained except the poorest people of the land.
And he carried Jehoiachin captive in Babylon. The king's mother, the king's wives, his officers, and the mighty of the land he carried into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
All the valiant men, seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths, one thousand, all who were strong and fit for war, these the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
Then the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's uncle, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
He also did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
For because of the anger of the LORD this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, that he finally cast them out from His presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
Proverbs 1:10-19 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.
If they say, "Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down to the Pit;
We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purpose"--
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path;
For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood.
Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird;
But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives.
So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners.
