Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Today is stacking up to be a rather busy day. I do have to work a half day, however, when I get home, I will be driving my stepson to the airport. He has been a godsend these last two weeks. Just what the doctor ordered to help with driving, to help with projects, and to help with perspective.
Last night I received the prompts for the short story challenge I had forgotten about. The overall trope is fear. Not exactly my area of writing, but while remembering why I entered this one, it made sense. I just had to wait for the prompts. Last night at 10, I received my prompts. At first glance … I was like …. Hmmm. I know WHY I entered this one, but I’m not sure how to incorporate these prompts into this thought. Normally I do not text after 9 unless an emergency, however last night I texted my two beta readers the prompts … I love those gals. Bottom line, they cannot wait to see what God gives me.
We had to make a ‘one last’ trip to Walmart yesterday afternoon. My daughter-in-law sent a shopping list. Haha. While her husband was retrieving the necessary items, my husband and I were checking out their meat section for pricing. As he is turned to the display counter, I noticed a young woman in her twenties lock eyes with me and did a dead sprint right at me. At first I thought that I knew her somehow, maybe. It was quite awkward. No one beelines unless it is important or hilarious. As she approached, still about 25 feet away, she asked about my hat and shirt. I was wearing my prayer warrior shirt with the kneeling knight and my faith ball cap. (Truth be told, I forgot what I was wearing as I typically do.) She wanted to get close enough to read my hat and inquire about where I got them. I must admit, I was quite confused for the first 30 seconds of our encounter … my husband had to interpret…LOL. (Kid to old woman)
Yesterday’s sermon was on perspective. How uniquely quaint that the perspectives of yesterday were so vastly different than mine. Yet absolutely beautiful. The minister used an old story of a farmer, a produce stand, and three boys who bartered with marbles … yet never had to pay. A great impression to be placed in your mind. As he spoke, I remembered the tub of black and white pictures that my grandkids took of my house and various items for me to remember them by. They are only 2 to 3 feet tall, so their perspective so much different than mine.
Each person has their own idea and thoughts on each encounter or presumed encounter throughout the day. We both could walk up to one person, at the same time, and still have a different perspective of who or how that person is … depending on the ‘vibe’ we get from them. Neither has to be wrong, but it is how the encounter is received.
Most people do not walk up to any given routine and ask for it to be radically changed unless there is a flaw or inconvenience in the routine. So, when change comes, there is an opportunity to put up defenses or to receive and see what happens. It is totally up to us. Our perspective of the change will greatly enhance our mood about the change.
The enemy likes to influence our perspective with various details. They do not have to be true or false to create a perspective of resistance. He absolutely loves to build a wall of entitlement around the lost. They are so bad they do not deserve the Kingdom of God; you should totally not talk to them. They are an addict; they will not listen to you. They did you wrong…really wrong … do not show them mercy, they deserve what they get. And the list goes on.
But what if that was the perspective that Jesus took with us? We would all be swimming in the sulfur fires of Hell for eternity.
Today I want you to be like that girl in Walmart. See and be the symbol God has made you to be … Fearless. Approach people with eager anticipation for reception of your greeting. Stand as an intercessor for those who may or may not deserve it. Show the enemy that your perspective is not for sale. Show mercy as Christ shows mercy for you. That is my goal for today. Will you join me?
Be blessed today my friends.
