PART 2
(if you haven't read part 1, go back and read part 1)

most abused and twisted doctrines in the modern church.
Let’s now go line by line into that argument:
“If you give tithes, God will rebuke the devourer.”
This is usually quoted from:
Malachi 3:10-11 (KJV)
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house,
and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…”
Contextual Deep Lens Breakdown
WHO is God speaking to?
• The book of Malachi is a rebuke to the Levitical priests of Israel, not to Gentile believers in 2024.
• See Malachi 2:1 – “And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.”
They were:
• Robbing Yahuah by keeping the offerings, not giving them to the storehouse (Levites and the poor).
• Offering blemished sacrifices.
• Abusing their priestly office for selfish gain.
So Malachi 3 is not a command for churchgoers today—it is a rebuke to corrupt priests under the Mosaic Covenant.
WHAT is the "devourer"?
In that agrarian economy:
• The “devourer” referred to locusts, drought, pests, or failed crops.
• The tithe was literal food, not money.
• Yah was saying: if you obey and honor Me, I will protect your land and harvest.
In other words:
This was a national agricultural promise to Israel, under the Old Covenant, and dependent on covenant obedience.
MODERN MISUSE: Prosperity Witchcraft
Today’s pastors say:
“Give your 10% or God won’t bless your finances. You’ll be cursed. The devourer will eat your salary.”
This is false doctrine and spiritual manipulation.
It uses fear of curses to extort money. It creates a transactional faith, like Babylonian sorcery:
“You pay the gods, and they keep demons away.”
This is not the Gospel of Yahusha.
UNDER YAHUSHA: THE DEVOURER HAS NO LEGAL RIGHT
In Messiah:
• We are no longer under the Levitical curse system.
• Yahusha has already rebuked the devourer by disarming principalities at the cross (Colossians 2:15).
• Satan only has legal access where there is sin, unbelief, or covenant breaking.
You don’t pay Yahuah to protect you. You walk in obedience, faith, and love, and He defends you as your Father, not as a loan shark.
LOGICAL DEEP LENS QUESTION:
If a poor widow cannot give 10%, does that mean the devourer will destroy her life?
If someone gives 10% to a corrupt church that misuses it, is that “obeying God”?
If Yah only protects based on payment, is He different from a mob boss?
→ This shows how the doctrine is blasphemous, not just wrong.
WHAT TO DO INSTEAD:
• Give as the Spirit leads, not under pressure.
• Share directly with widows, orphans, strangers (Deuteronomy 14:28-29).
• If you're in a spiritual community, contribute to its needs, not its greed.
• Trust Yahuah to rebuke every devourer through your obedience, purity, prayer, and generosity, not percentage.
CONCLUSION — DEEP LENS VERDICT:

Yahuah wants sons and daughters—not customers.
