God Calls His People to Purity

Scripture

Leviticus 15:31 (NKJV)
Thus you shall separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness when they defile My tabernacle that is among them.


Living Pure Before a Holy God

In this verse, God instructs Israel about matters of ceremonial uncleanness. The concern was not only physical but also spiritual. God dwelt among His people, and His holiness required that they live in purity. To ignore this command was to treat His presence lightly and risk separation from Him.

For believers today, this reminds us that God still calls His people to purity. Through Christ, we are cleansed from sin, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us as God’s temple. Our lives are to reflect holiness, not because of ritual law but because of relationship. Purity honors God’s presence and demonstrates reverence for His holiness.

This verse challenges us to take seriously the call to live pure lives, setting aside anything that defiles our fellowship with God.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You that through Jesus Christ I am cleansed and made holy. Help me to live in purity and to honor Your presence in my life. Teach me to set aside anything that defiles and to walk in reverence before You. In Jesus name, Amen.
