Baptism and Prayer
The light of Christ does not depart from those who have received the mystery of Baptism, but if they immerse themselves in evil, it becomes difficult for them to recognize it. This light is the inner mental perception of good, and the love, pursuit, and clinging to it, and the perseverance in it. It is what moves the heart towards love, longing for God, and the permanent attachment to the name of Jesus Christ in prayer, and the love for that name which overcomes everything; because it is the most beloved name to the Heavenly Father, and because it is the name spoken by the Father and the Holy Spirit, and it is therefore the "beloved" name through which we offer prayers to the Father in the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
And when we are baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity, we receive a spiritual fellowship with the Trinity, which makes us love prayer, strive for it, and yearn to exist in the Trinity; because Christ Jesus who is in us is the one who moves us towards the Father, and the Spirit who is in us is the one who moves us towards Christ, and the Father's longing for us is that longing about which our Lord Jesus Christ says, "We will come to him and make our home with him" (John 14:23).
And just as we long for the Trinity—and we are moved towards the Trinity by the light of the mystery of Baptism—God longs for us, and we are moved by the light of the Trinity which we received in this sublime divine mystery; because the Spirit moves our hearts and makes us pray, "Abba, Father," when He sends His Spirit crying out in us with the very utterance of the incarnate only Son (cf. Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15).
