Paul's Reason for Writing So Boldly

Romans 15:14-21 I myself feel confident about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another. 

Nevertheless on some points I have written to you rather boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God 

to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 

In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to boast of my work for God. 

For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed, 

by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and as far around as Illyricum I have fully proclaimed the good news of Christ. 

Thus I make it my ambition to proclaim the good news, not where Christ has already been named, so that I do not build on someone else's foundation, 

but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him shall see, and those who have never heard of him shall understand.”

Paul's Prayer

Ephesians 1:15-19 I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason 

I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. 

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, 

so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, 

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. 

Romans 11:13-14 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I glorify my ministry 

in order to make my own people jealous, and thus save some of them. 

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 

God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, 

so that no one might boast in the presence of God. 

He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 

in order that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Acts 15:12 The whole assembly kept silence, and listened to Barnabas and Paul as they told of all the signs and wonders that God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Acts 21:18-21 The next day Paul went with us to visit James; and all the elders were present. 

After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. 

When they heard it, they praised God. Then they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands of believers there are among the Jews, and they are all zealous for the law. 

They have been told about you that you teach all the Jews living among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, and that you tell them not to circumcise their children or observe the customs. 

Acts 2:18-21 Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist.


The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord's great and glorious day.


Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
The Suffering Servant


Isaiah 52:13-15 See, my servant shall prosper; he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high.


Just as there were many who were astonished at him—so marred was his appearance, beyond human semblance,
and his form beyond that of mortals—


so he shall startle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which had not been told them they shall see, and that which they had not heard they shall contemplate.
