Romans 15:14-21 Exploring NET

Paul’s Motivation for Writing the Letter

Romans 15:14-21 But I myself am fully convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.

But I have written more boldly to you on some points so as to remind you, because of the grace given to me by God

to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. I serve the gospel of God like a priest, so that the Gentiles may become an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

So I boast in Christ Jesus about the things that pertain to God.

For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in order to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,

in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

And in this way I desire to preach where Christ has not been named, so as not to build on another person’s foundation,
but as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.”

Prayer for Wisdom and Revelation

Ephesians 1:15-19 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember you in my prayers.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him,

– since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

and what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe, as displayed in the exercise of his immense strength.

Romans 11:13-14 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Seeing that I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. Not many were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position.

But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.

God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,

so that no one can boast in his presence.

He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Acts 15:12 The whole group kept quiet and listened to Barnabas and Paul while they explained all the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

Acts 21:18-21 The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were there.

When Paul had greeted them, he began to explain in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all ardent observers of the law,

They have been informed about you--that you teach all the Jews now living among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.

Acts 2:18-21 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

And I will perform wonders in the sky above and miraculous signs on the earth below, blood and fire and clouds of smoke.

The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

And then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

The Lord Will Vindicate His Servant

Isaiah 52:13-15  “Look, my servant will succeed! He will be elevated, lifted high, and greatly exalted –

(just as many were horrified by the sight of you) he was so disfigured he no longer looked like a man;

his form was so marred he no longer looked human –so now he will startle many nations. Kings will be shocked by his exaltation, for they will witness something unannounced to them, and they will understand something they had not heard about.
